Gravestones are remarkable, and I also love to look at the inscriptions. Not on a gravestone, but an epitaph by the great Scottish Poet Robert Burns (1759 to 1796)

An honest man here lies at rest,

As e’er God with His image blest:

The friend of man, the friend of truth;

The friend of age, and guide of youth:

Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,

Few heads with knowledge so inform’d:

If there’s another world, he lives in bliss;

If there is none, he made the best of this.

There's a gravestone at the cemetery where I give tours that has a poem similar to this engraved on it. I didn't realize it was by Robert Burns! Thanks so much for sharing.
